Amid island legends of long-lost fairies and pirate chickens, Tia discovers the real magic of the elusive storm petrel in this heartwarming conservation story from award-winning author Gill Lewis.
When a summer storm drives the Tall Ship racers into the bay at Gull Haven Island, Tia’s mum is called in to care for the captain’s cat. Aboard the ship, Tia listens skeptically to sailors’ tales about strange storm-predicting chickens―and back on land, she laughs off rumors of hidden fairies near the lighthouse.
But when Nat’s dad takes Tia and Nat to the fairy stones, they uncover the truth behind the island’s stories: tiny storm petrels in desperate need of help. Together, they must find a way to protect the seabirds and restore the magic of their island home.
